Victoria Bridge, Kuala Kangsar (16 September, 2005)

The
Victoria Bridge (GPS: 4.83709, 100.9622) is a disused railway bridge that crosses the
Perak River at Karai, near Kuala Kangsar. It was built between 1897 and 1900 during the reign of Sultan Idris Mersid-El Aazam Shah. The engineer for the project was C.R. Hanson.
The original Victoria Bridge is now no longer in use, as a new concrete bridge has taken over its role. The concrete bridge is just 15 metres away from the original bridge. You can catch a glimpse of it from the above photograph, which I shot when a group of AsiaExplorers members and I visited the Victoria Bridge on our way to
Cameron Highlands.
