Lin Je Kong Temple, Pangkor (22 September 2020)
Lin Je Kong Temple (GPS: 4.23952, 100.54419; Chinese: 灵慈宫) is a Chinese temple in
Pangkor, Perak. Located on the northern end of
Coral Beach, it is one of the oldest Chinese temples on the island. The island is perched on a rocky promontory that juts out of the sandy beach.
Lin Je Kong was built for the veneration of the Goddess of Mercy, or Kuan Yin. Originally just a modest shrine on the rock, the temple has expanded over the decades to resemble a religious theme park, with various statues and figurines dotting the cliff side. More incongruous are statues of what appears to be Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and even the Little Mermaid.
Lin Je Kong Temple offers panoramic vista of this corner of Pangkor Island. The view of Coral Beach below is stupendous, especially on a clear day. From the temple one can see
Pulau Giam and
Pulau Mentagor in the horizon.
