Pangkor Island Hopping is an excursion to various islands in Pangkor. During our recent visit to Pangkor Island with a group of tour operators called WowCuti, my wife and I had the chance to go on an island hopping excursion.
We assembled to board the boat at Pantai Pasir Bogak. Since there were 30 of us, we were split into two groups. Each of us were given a life jacket to wear. Leaving our sandals by the shore, we climbed on board the boat.
Our first stop was Pangkor Laut. We did not actually go ashore at that resort island, but followed the coast, so that we have a good view of the resort from the sea. We made a clockwise circuit around the southern coast of Pangkor Laut, and then continued along its western coast.
We were able to enjoy views of the west coast of Pangkor Island from the sea. We saw Teluk Ketapang, Teluk Nipah and Coral Beach, location of Lin Je Kong, one of the most significant Chinese temples in Pangkor.
There are a number of islands and outcrops dotting the western coastline of Pangkor. The biggest is of course the aforementioned Pangkor Laut. Other major islands include Pulau Mentagor and Pulau Giam. There are also smaller islets such as Pulau Simpan and Pulau Dua, which do not harbour much significance. We saw fantastic rock formations along the coastline, some of it resembling human, crocodile and other beasts.
There is a snorkelling spot near Pulau Giam where our boat stopped over, and many of us went for for snorkelling. I saw live sea cucumber for the first time. This is a delicacy in Chinese cuisine. The water teems with small fish, possibly anchovies. After a snorkelling session, we continued on to beach at Pulau Giam.
On our way back, we passed a fishing boat where the fishermen were pulling in the net. They were catching anchovies. I noticed that many of the fishermen were foreign workers. They pulled in a heavy net laden with the small fish.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable excursion along the west coast of Pangkor, and I would recommend it to visitors.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
