Parit Buntar (GPS: 5.11864, 100.48679; ) 巴里文打 is the administrative centre of the district of Kerian on the western part of Perak. It is located at the border between Perak and Kedah, and within a stone's throw from Bandar Baharu in Kedah, and Nibong Tebal in Penang.

Parit Buntar is said to have been named after a local leader Tok Buntar, who was instrumental in the construction of an irrigation canal that came to be known as Parit Buntar. The town is on the western bank of Sungai Kerian, across from Bandar Baharu in Kedah to the east, and Nibong Tebal in Penang to the north.

Getting there

By Car
Exit the North-South Expressway at either Exit 153, Bandar Baharu Interchange, or Exit 156, Jawi Interchange.

By Train
Since 11 July, 2015, the KTM Electric Train Service (ETS) was introduced to provide fast connection to Parit Buntar from major cities on the west coast of the Peninsula. The ETS train from KL Sentral arrives at the Parit Buntar Railway Station at 12:51 pm in the afternoon while the train from Butterworth Railway Station arrives at 6:00 pm.
