Pioneer Methodist Church (GPS: 4.19654, 100.70038) is a church in Sitiawan, Perak. The settlement of Sitiawan is closely tied to the founding of this church in Sitiawan, and the arrival of Fuzhou migrants who were Christians. Thus its name, the Pioneer Methodist Church, is indeed appropriate.
The present church building dates back to 1927, though its history in Sitiawan goes back further, to the end of 1904, when the church obtained a ten-acre plot for its use. However, even before the church was fully completed, it was razed in a fire, and thus the congregation had to undertake another building fund, and the church was completed in 1907. This was replaced with the present building, which has a plan in the form of a cross.
Missionaries of the Pioneer Methodist Church is said to have been involved in the setting up of the Anglo Chinese School in Sitiawan, known today as SMK Methodist ACS Sitiawan.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
