Gurdwara Sahib Sungai Siput Utara (18 September 2016)
Gurdwara Sahib Sungai Siput Utara (GPS: 4.8153, 101.07857) is the place of worship for the Sikh community in Sungai Siput, Perak. It is located along the main road, which is Federal Route 1. The building has a large onion dome.
The Sikhs are said to have settled in Sungai Siput as early as the 1920s.1 The construction of the gurdwara goes back to 1930, when the Sikhs built their first gurdwara a short distance from the present one. The present site of the gurdwara dates to the late 1970s, when the Sikh Sangat bought the land.
The present Gurdwara Sahib building was completed in 1981, and was officially open by the late Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, then Minister of Works, on 20 September 1981.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
