Taiping Railway Station (31 August, 2015)
Taiping Railway Station (GPS: 4.85207, 100.73123) is the oldest railway station in the country. The station was originally built in 1882, for the railway line between
Taiping and Port Weld, in present-day
Kuala Sepetang. The station was rebuilt the first time in early 1900s, to accommodate the train services between Taiping and Prai (eventually extended to Butterworth), and then between Taiping and
Kuala Lumpur.
In 2013, the Taiping Railway Station was rebuilt a second time, to prepare it for the introduction of the
Electric Train Service from Kuala Lumpur. The ETS service began on 11 July, 2015. The Taiping Railway Station is between the
Padang Rengas Railway Station and
Parit Buntar Railway Station.
