Jalan Sultan Abdullah, Taiping
Jalan Sultan Abdullah is a road in
Taiping, Perak. It connects
Jalan Ong Saik, at the intersection of
Jalan Kota, to
Jalan Maharajalela. The road also forms junction with Jalan Tokong,
Jalan Panggung Wayang and Lorong Taman Tasik. It ends at Jalan Maharajalela, across from Jalan Ngah Ibrahim.
Jalan Sultan Abdullah was named after
Sultan Abdullah Mohamed Shah II (1842-1922), 26th Sultan of Perak. He reigned from 1874 until 1877. Implicated in the murder of British Resident JWW Birch, he was exiled to Seychelles on 21 July 1876, but was eventually allowed to return to
Kuala Kangsar, the royal town of Perak, in 1922, the same year that he died.
