Belachan Udang Kak Chik (GPS: 6.36975, 100.14262) is a stall selling belacan near the coast of Perlis. It is a stall along State Route 152, near the crossroad to Kampung Kurung Tengar. The belacan is made on site. My wife and I saw this stall when we were exploring the coastal areas of Perlis, and so we decided to stop the car and have a look.
We met the lady Kak Chik herself, as she was busy drying her belachan in the sun. As you would expect, the place smells to high heaven. Nevertheless we didn't let the smell of belacan overwhelm us, and had a look around at the belacan on sale there. Cakes of belacan are sold in small packs. Thinking that this was going to be very good belacan, my wife bought a few packs home.
For your information, we had to throw away all the belacan. As my wife later discovered, the belacan simply contained too much impurities that it was just not acceptable for her to use. In future we would be more careful before doing any impromptu shopping.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
