Wang Kelian (GPS: 6.6776, 100.18679) is a border town in Perlis. It is located on the Malaysia-Thai border. Wang Kelian is one of the northernmost towns in Malaysia, though "town" might not be the most appropriate name for it, as "meeting point" might be more correct. This is where a border market manifests every weekend with various sundry items on sale. We arrived here on a Sunday. I was told that the market only operates on weekend.
There are many attractions in Wang Kelian to suit different tourist segments. The town itself is famous for its Sunday Market, a place where traders from Southern Thailand would come to sell their wares. This is frequented mostly by local tourists looking for bargains. The quality of goods is on par with that to be expected at other Malaysia-Thai border towns including Bukit Kayu Hitam and Padang Besar.
Wang Kelian State Park is located here. This 1000-hectare park sits on the Nakawan range, the longest limestone hill range in Malaysia. Within the Wang Kelian State Park is a semi-decidous forest, a rare find in Malaysia. Hiking enthusiasts will be delighted with the many forest tracks here. Wang Burma is a cave in this park.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
