Kota Kinabalu City Mosque (GPS: 5.99571, 116.10771) is a grand mosque at Likas Bay in Kota Kinabalu. Officially opened on 2 February 2000, following the declaration of Kota Kinabalu as a city, the City Mosque or Masjid Bandaraya is the second main mosque in Kota Kinabalu after the
Sabah State Mosque. The mosque is surrounded by reflecting pools - or lagoon - so as to appear as though it is floating in the water. The mosque can accommodate 10,000-12,000 worshippers at one time. It was designed to resemble the Al-Nabawi Mosque of Saudi Arabia.
