Lok Kawi (GPS: 5.85374, 116.05193) is a town near Kota Kinabalu. The growth of Kota Kinabalu has since absorbed Lok Kawi as one of its neighbourhoods. The town is located between the districts of Penampang and Papar.
Among the sights at Lok Lawi includes the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park and the Lok Kawi Army Camp. The Sri Subramaniyar Temple at Lok Kawi is one of the few Hindu temples in Kota Kinabalu. Famous novelist W. Somerset Maugham is said to have visited Lok Kawi several times before, as his niece was married to the manager of the Lok Kawi Estate.
