Long Pasia is a small rural community in southwestern Sabah, near the border with Sarawak. The Long Pasia Airport (GSA) has an airstrip to serve the interior community. There is also a small conservation area here, called the Long Pasia Kerangas Conservation Area, to protect the kerangas forest, or heath forest, an uncommon occurance in Malaysia. The kerangas forest grows on sandy soil. It supports a rich variety of orchids, rhododendrons and pitcher plants, many of which are endemic to the area. Among the orchids found in this area is the
Bulbophyllum virescens, which is found only in Ulu Tomani and Ulu Padas.
