Sandakan Yacht Club (GPS: 5.84154, 118.12376) is an exclusive club for a small community of yacht owners in Sandakan, Sabah. It traces its history back to 1952, making it one of the oldest yacht clubs in the country. The first Commodore of the club was John Sykes, who was the chairman of the Sandakan Town Board. From an initial membership of 45, the club has grown to over 400 members today, and has fodged close relationship with other clubs in Malaysia and elsewhere. The club is located along Jalan Buli Sim Sim, near the Sandakan Mosque and the Buli Sim Sim Village.
From August 2009, visiting yachts are charged a registration fee of RM100 and a daily facilities fee of RM10. The visitor will receive a set of souvenir comprising the Sandakan Yacht Club Tee-Shirt and baseball cap when registering. Through the facilities fees, the visitors can enjoy club facilies such as the jetty, swimming pool, wi-fi, and so on.
