Balung River Eco Resort (GPS: 4.44159, 118.04401) is a nature getaway near Tawau. It is located within the 3500-acre Balung River Estate, near the Tawau Hills Park.
At the Balung River Eco Resort, visitors can get to learn about the various crops and agricultural commodities that are important to Sabah, such as oil palm, cocoa, pepper, coffee, as well as various types of fruit trees. The Balung River Estate also has under its cultivation large tracts of teak trees and sugar palms (Arenga pinnata).
Visitors can overnight at this eco resort. Chalets, built of stone and local timber, provide a rustic feel without sacrificing creature comfort, as air conditioning is also available. Guests can go for a swim at the swimming pool as well as at Balung River itself. There is also a man-made pond where guest can try their hand at fishing.
Other activities at Balung River Eco Resort includes mountain biking and camping. For golf enthusiasts, it has a putting green. There is also an observation tower where visitors can get a scenic view of the surroundings.
