Airport Road Outcrop (GPS: 4.3644, 113.97914) is a natural formation along the road between Miri and its airport. This natural laterite outcrop has many layers, and provide geological enthusiasts with an idea of how the land surrounding Miri was formed, as it was pushed out from the seabed some 10-15 million years ago.
I have been searching for this sight for a while from the time I first learned about it many years ago. Going along the road beside the Miri Airport, I found nothing. It was only later (and not when I am in Miri) that I found that, the Airport Road Outcrop is located on Jalan Miri-Bintulu, across from Taman Awam Miri. I suppose this was part of the airport road. Anyway, from Google Street View, I saw that there is a signboard providing interpretation of this sight. It is not an outcrop per se, but rather a cliff side that exposes the strata of the terrain.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
