Masjid India Muslim Tengku Kelana, Klang (6 July, 2016)
Masjid India Muslim Tengku Kelana (GPS: 3.04189, 101.44714) is one of the major mosques in Klang, Selangor. One of the landmarks of Klang's Little India, it is bordered by Jalan Tengku Kelana and Jalan Dato Hamzah. Also called simply as Masjid India Klang, this Indian Muslim mosque has a bowl-shaped dome topping its prayer hall, flanked by a pair of minarets. The prayer hall is three storeys tall, with a grand staircase leading up to the first floor, where the main prayer hall is located.
The history of Masjid India Muslim Tengku Kelana goes back to 1910, but the present building is more recent, having been constructed between 2007 and 2009. It incorporates some aspects of the original mosque that bears elements of South Indian mosque architecture. The present mosque was built by Johawaki Construction, which also built the Federal Territory Mosque and PERDA City Mall, among others.
