Wesley Methodist School Klang (6 July, 2016)
Wesley Methodist School Klang (GPS: 3.04193, 101.44517) is a private school in
Klang, Selangor. Located on Jalan Dato Hamzah, it traces its beginnings to the efforts of Methodist missionaries Mrs D.L. Gulland and Mrs G.S. Arumugam, who founded it as the Methodist Girls Continuation School in 1949, in the aftermath of the Second World War. The war has disrupted education for many children of school going age, so the school was set up specially to cater to the education of girls who were over the school-going age.
From its founding in 1949, Wesley Methodist School Klang had undergoing a few name changes. It was named Eklund Methodist Girls School in 1958, in honour of education pioneers, Reverend & Mrs Abel Eklund. The school was renamed once more, to Methodist Institute, in 1974, and to Methodist High School in 1980, when it became co-educational. It was given its present name in 2009, and is often shortened to WMS Klang.
