Sri Shakti Dhevasthanam (GPS: 3.30818, 101.31678) is a major Hindu temple in
Kuala Selangor. It is located off Jalan Kuala Selangor in Bukit Rotan, just behind the Bukit Rotan Post Office. The South Indian-style temple has a
rajagopuram, or main temple tower, at its entrance, into which is the covered
mandapa (outer sanctuary) surrounding the
vimana (sanctum sanctorum).
Sri Shakti Dhevasthanam is formerly known as the Arulmigu Sri Maha Mariamman. According to temple chairman Mr Shivasri A.P. Muthukamara Sivaachaariyaar's father, the temple is believed to be over a hundred years old, as it was already standing when he arrived from India at the age of 17 in 1912. The temple is believed to have come out as a place of worship for the local Indian community who were labourers at the Bukit Rotan rubber estates.
Photography is not permitted inside the temple.
