At Sekinchan, the paddy fields stretch as far as the eye can see. (7 July, 2016)
Many people come to Sekinchan for one reason: to view its wide expanse of paddy fields. The land here is absolutely flat, and for a moment, you never thought you are so close to the sea. I believe this is one of the biggest paddy planting areas in Peninsular Malaysia, second perhaps to the plains of Kedah and Perlis.
The paddy fields of Sekinchan are on the right side of Route 5. For much of the way, they are obscured by a row of houses. There are bund roads at regular intervals that cut right through the paddy fields. The first of these connected to Route 5 is Jalan Tali Air 1 Sungai Burong. Its junction to Route 5 is around GPS map coordinates 3.45578, 101.14571. Turn right on any of the bund roads and drive right into the paddy fields. Running across these parallel line of bund roads is Lorong 2 Sungai Sireh. It allows you to go from one bund road to the next, and you can often see vehicles speeding along in the distance.
The view at Sekinchan's paddy fields is really scenic. Some places look like they have leaped right out of a postcard. The roads here are rather bumpy and muddy. I remember having to send our car to the car wash after our visit. As a "city folk", I do not often get to see paddy fields or those tractors working the fields, so it was fun for me being at Sekinchan.
If you wish to navigate right to the middle of the Sekinchan paddy fields, key in the map coordinates 3.47471, 101.14867 into your GPS Navigator device.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
