Pasaraya Segi Fresh, Teluk Panglima Garang (6 July, 2016)
Teluk Panglima Garang (GPS: 2.90933, 101.46795) is a town in the southern part of Selangor. It is located between Klang and Banting. The main road though Teluk Panglima Garang is Route 5, also called Jalan Klang-Banting. The town is to the north of Sungai Langat, and to the east of Pulau Carey. The next town on Route 5 is Jenjarom.
According to the village committee of Telok Panglima Garang1, the town was originally known as Nibong Dengkil. The area was once inhabited mostly by Orang Asli.
According to the blog Aku Budak Telok2, the namesake of Telok Panglima Garang was a contemporary of Sultan Abdul Samad. Panglima Garang is said to be one of the warriors or mercenaries under the command of Raja Berayun, who in fact lived on raiding Orang Asli natives and selling them as slaves. The Orang Asli living along Sungai Langat were terrified of Panglima Garang.
