Kuala Berang (GPS: 5.07435, 103.01021) is a small town in the interior of Terengganu, about 33 km from Kuala Terengganu. According to the 2000 Census, it had a population of 5,803 people.
Kuala Berang is noted as the main town for visiting Kenyir Lake. It was also here that the Terengganu Inscription Stone was discovered in 1899. The stone, the oldest artifact with Jawi writing on it, is believed to have been created in AD1303. It was discovered by a merchant, Sayid Husin Ghulam al-Bokhari, during a flash flood in Kuala Berang.
