Welcoming Visitors to Homestay Teluk Ketapang (18 February 2011)
Homestay Teluk Ketapang (GPS: 5.37281, 103.11453) is a homestay programme developed by the villagers of Kampung Teluk Ketapang, on the northern part of Kuala Terengganu. The homestay offers visitors an opportunity to get to know the lifestyle of the locals in Teluk Ketapang, being received into their homes as "foster children", and enjoying activities of the locals.
Upon arrival, visitors to Homestay Teluk Ketapang are often welcomed with the beating of the kompang. Silat demonstrations and gamelan performance are also often staged, especially for large groups. Mock wedding ceremonies are also often staged for the benefit and education of visitors.

During their stay at Teluk Ketapang, visitors get to learn the local dishes, even help out in the kitchen. As the village is located by the seaside, they may also get the chance to engage in beach activities such as pulling in the nets. Visitors can also take river cruises at the mouth of the Terengganu River to visit the city of Kuala Terengganu from the river, and famous sights such as the Crystal Mosque and Taman Tamadun Islam.
