Kota Lama Duyong, the most famous building on Pulau Duyong Kecil (31 December 2006)
Pulau Duyong Kecil is an islet on the estuary of the Terengganu River, in Kuala Terengganu. It is located to the north of Pulau Duyong Besar, which is often known simply as Pulau Duyong. Over the years, sedimentation as well as land reclamation have merged the two islands together.
Pulau Duyong Kecil is renowned throughout Terengganu as a centre of Islamic teaching. This is primarily the result of the work of Tok Sheikh Duyong, a famous 19th century Muslim scholar.
The most famous building in Pulau Duyong Kecil is Kota Lama Duyong, a Malay residence originally built by the great grandson of Tok Sheikh Duyong, Dato Biji Sura, in 1920. Destroyed in the flood of 1986, it was rebuilt in the original form by restorers in 1999.

About this website
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
