Sekayu Waterfall (GPS: 4.96632, 102.95506) is a waterfall in Kuala Berang, Terengganu. It is located within Hutan Lipur Sekayu or Sekayu Recreational Forest, a protected forest established in 1974.
Sekayu Waterfall has a seven-tier cascade emptying into water-cut pools. It is popular as a picnic spot among the locals. To enjoy the waterfall best, go during the wet season.
The lower tier cascades of Sekayu Waterfall can be reached from a flight of cement stairs. The area has been prepared for picnicking. The higher cascades require a bit of climbing. Nonetheless the terrain is manageable for most.
The forest surrounding Sekayu Waterfall is a dipterocarp forest. Among the trees you can find here include the keruing, meranti and damar hitam.
How to go there
The most practical way to find Sekayu Waterfall is to drive. If you are coming from Kuala Terengganu, head for Kuala Berang. At the town, ask for directions.
