Yak Yah Firefly Sanctuary (GPS: 4.30672, 103.37444) is a place along the Yak Yah River in Kampung Ibok, Terengganu, that has been developed for firefly watching. Sungai Yak Yah, or Yak Yah River, is located about 11 km from
Chukai. The river is said to have the biggest concentration of fireflies in Malaysia.
As with other firefly-watching sites, visitors are taken on a boat ride through the river. The boat ride is conducted in the evenings usually from 8 pm to 12 pm, best on moonlit nights. The best time to go is between July and September, when the fireflies have their mating season. The boat fee, at time of writing, is RM25 per adult and RM12.50 per child.
