Malaysian Buddhist Association or
Persatuan Buddhist Malaysia is located at 182 Burmah Road, Penang. The original building is a three storey structure. Next to it is a six-storey annex that was completed around 2008.
The history of the Malaysian Buddhist Association goes back to 1959, when it was based at the
Kek Lok Si Temple. The objective of the Malaysian Buddhist Association is to enhance the propagation and research of the Dharma, to enhance and implement the Buddhist religious order, to foster Buddhist culture and Buddhist education, to promote social welfare and charitable undertakings, to maintain a registry of all the Buddhist temples and nunneries, to rectify incorrect practices, to defend the dignity and creditability of Buddhism, and to enhance unity and friendship of Malaysian Buddhists.
