Malaysian German Society (16 April 2009)
Malaysian German Society is a society that was founded on 7 April 1962 to promote friendship and understanding between Malaysians and Germans expatriates. It is located off
Jalan Ayer Itam, next to
Suffolk House and
Methodist Boys School.
The Malaysian German Society organises various functions and social events to expose the cultures of Malaysia and Germany. These include concerts by German musicians. Through the society, Malaysians get a glimpse of life in Germany, learning about its festivities and culture. The biggest event organised by the Malaysian German Society is the annual Oktoberfest, which brings out the German community in Penang.

The Malaysian German Society also holds German language classes. Students take examinations set by the Goethe-Institut, thus giving them an internationally recognised certificate. Occassionally, Malay language classes are also held to give German expatriates a taste of the Malaysian language.
