Manuel Ukelele (20 March 2013)
Manuel Ukelele is a music shop specializing in ukelele. It is housed in a restored terrace house turned shophouse along
Kinta Lane in George Town. Manuel Ukelele touts itself as being the first online ukelele shop in Malaysia, and is probably also the only ukelele shop in Penang.
Manuel Ukelele was named in honor of Madeira-born cabinet maker Manuel Nunes (1843-1922) who immigrated to Hawaii somewhere around the late 1870s and began making ukelele there. The ukelele found favour with the Hawaiian royalty, and by the early part of the 20th century, its popularity has crossed over to the continental United States.
Manuel Ukelele provides a wide selection of ukelele for the enthusiasts of this instrument. The shop also runs a website providing more details about the various types and brands of ukelele.
