Masjid Bandar Baru Air Itam (GPS: 5.39441, 100.2849) is the mosque serving the Muslim community of the Farlim township of Ayer Itam. At time I first wrote this entry (11 Jan 2009), the mosque has yet to open to worshippers and finishing touches are being put to the building.

Masjid Baru Ayer Itam is serves the villages of Kampung Baru, Kampung Pisang and Kampung Lembah Ria, traditional Malay villages that have existed since the 19th century.

Getting to Masjid Bandar Baru Air Itam

Masjid Bandar Baru Ayer Itam is located along Jalan Thean Teik, a short distance from Sunshine Farlim. Entrance to the mosque is from Jalan Ru. Rapid Penang Bus Nos. 202 and 203 pass along the main road in front of it.
