Masjid Jamek Al-Falah, Kampung Kota (22 July 2015)
Masjid Jamek Al-Falah (GPS: 5.42983, 100.43426) is a mosque in
Kampung Kota,
Permatang Pauh. The present building has a double-tier hip roof topped by the bowl-shaped dome, an introduction of Arabic elements to traditional Malay mosque architecture. The mosque has an unusual octagonal minaret that towers over the mosque proper.
While it is not confirmed, Masjid Jamek Al-Falah is believed to have dated back to the 19th century, and was used by the early Kedah settlers who reestablished themselves in Province Wellesley after they were ousted from Kedah in the 1821 Siamese attack. While the original mosque is now long gone, the present modern building is the main place of worship for the villagers of Kampung Kota.
