Maxim Dim Sum Restaurant is a dim sum restaurant in Taman Pekaka, Sungai Dua. I come here on occasion, where we are spoilt over what to have for breakfast. We usually try to come early, as Maxim - as with many successful dim sum restaurants in Penang - tends to become quite crowded as the morning continues.
The dim sum at Maxim is "not too bad". It moved up in my opinion of it after another dim sum restaurant, in Farlim, which I would otherwise go more often, seems to deteriorate in quality. But like all the dim sum meals that I have elsewhere, I tend to feel very thirsty for the rest of the day when I ate at Maxim.
Our latest trip was on 17 July 2015. My wife and I each took turns to select the dim sum items. These are our selection. The items I enjoyed very much include the Hong Kong-style chee cheong fun, the deep-fried radish cakes and the deep-fried yam balls (五香芋角).

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
