The Medicine Buddha Shrine Hall (GPS: 5.40454, 100.33286) is a five-storey community hall being built by the Persatuan Kebajikan Pu Ai Komuniti (Pu Ai Community Service Centre). It is located at Lintang Macallum Satu off
Macallum Street Ghaut, Penang.
The Medicine Buddha, also called the buddha of healing and medicine, is the
Bhaisajyaguru in Mahayana Buddhism. The Medicine Buddha is known in Chinese as 藥師佛 while in Sanskrit, it is भैषज्यगुरु. The image is usually depicted in a seated posture.
The Medicine Buddha features prominently in Chinese and Japanese Buddhism. In Chinese Buddhism, he is one of a trinity of Buddhas, along with Sakyamuni (which is known also as Gautama Buddha) and Amitabha, the celestial buddha of Mahayana Buddhism. In Japanese he is known as Yakushi (薬師), and is featured in many of the older temples of
Kyoto and
Nara.

The Medicine Buddha Shrine Hall is located at Lintang Macallum 1. From the
Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, turn in to
Macallum Street Ghaut, then continue to the second intersection on your right to enter Lintang Macallum Satu.
