Updates on Mellowcup Cafe
7 January, 2020
Mellowcup Cafe has just introduced 12 premium cold-drip coffee beverages. These are named according to the Zodiac signs.
My wife and I had an opportunity to dine at Mellowcup Cafe on 10 May, 2017. When we arrived, we found that almost all the tables were taken. Business was very brisk, and the waiters were rushing about taking orders and serving food. Luckily, the restaurant has put aside a reserved table for us.
That evening, we were treated to the Ice Drip Coffee. It comes in a double-sided glass cup. The coffee is frothy, as it has been shaken before serving. The iced coffee has a wonderful aroma which I enjoy.

The coffee we tried that evening was the Dutch Coffee. It is prepared by slowly dripping cold, filtered water through the lightly roasted ground coffee. The dripping is done slowly, often as long as ten hours. This method brings out the fruity flavours of the coffee, which also offers a chocolaty aftertaste. Coffee lovers will find that coffee prepared this way is in its purest and fullest form.
As my wife does not take coffee, we were also served Pearl Jasmine Tea (RM15.90). This is a very aromatic tea which both my wife and I enjoyed very much. Seldom do I come across a tea that is so fragrant.
On our visit to Mellowcup Cafe, we tried the Spaghetti Carbonara with Hot Spring Egg (RM21.80), which is spaghetti with a creamy sauce. There are generous amounts of turkey bacon, and the pasta is topped with a hot spring egg. I love the creaminess of the sauce. Next, we tried "Herbs in Ocean" (RM28.80), which is spaghetti with spicy tomato sauce, prawn, squid and mussel. This is a seafood spaghetti dish with large prawns and mussels. It is great for those who love seafood.
Yet one more item we tried that evening was Grilled Chicken with Hot Spring Egg (RM25.90). This is served with house salad on the side.
We finished out meal with a dessert, which is the Chocolate Egg Yolk (RM13.90). This is like a variation of the Chocolate Lava Cake, except, instead of chocolate, there's an egg yolk inside. It offers a nice ending to a lovely meal at Mellowcup Cafe.
We thank the owner Huichuen for having invited us to try the dishes at her cafe, and hope we would have a chance to visit it again in the future.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
