Nasi Lemak Seller diorama, Made In Penang Interactive Museum (25 November 2013)

The
Nasi Lemak Seller is one of the dioramas at the Made In Penang Interactive Museum. Installed in the diorama gallery, it is one in a series of dioramas depicting the various occupations in present and yesterday Penang.
The Nasi Lemak Seller diorama depicts a Malay woman selling the packed oily rice. She has her makeshift stall by the five foot way of a traditional shophouse. The stall receives three customers in the form of two young boys and a foreign tourist.
Notesworthy in this diorama are the details of the newpaper wrapping the
nasi lemak, the plastic container used to keep change, the plastic bag in the seller's hand and her apron. The parking meter and newly painted parking lots on the road also add to the charm of this diorama. The entire makes the scene appear as though it happened at night or in the early morning, as the stall is lit from a single, unseen street lamp.
