Hock Teik Soo Temple (5 May 2010)
Hock Teik Soo Temple (GPS: 5.16538, 100.47482) (Traditional/Simplified Chinese: 福德祠) is a Chinese Taoist temple in
Nibong Tebal. It has a big compound accessed through a big entrance arch. It is also called the Kwong Hock Keong Temple (Traditional Chinese: 廣福宮, Simplified Chinese: 广福宫), as it is the jointly managed temple of the local Cantonese and Hokkien community (similar to the Kuan Im Teng in George Town).
The principal deity at Hock Teik Soo Temple is the
Tua Pek Kong, who also goes by the name Hock Teik Kong. On the arch as you enter the temple compound are the words "Kwang Foo Kong". On the right side of the main temple is a shrine to Datuk Kong, the local deity. The temple building has an ornately carved façade with a pair of granite dragon pillars.
Upon entering the temple, you reach a comparatively sparse prayer hall. The centrepiece of the prayer hall is the airwell with a stone tortoise.
