Nicol David International Squash Centre, Bukit Dumbar, Gelugor (18 September 2012)

The
Nicol David International Squash Centre is a squash centre in Bukit Dumbar, Penang. The centre is located by the slope of
Bukit Dumbar overlooking Jalan Jelutong. It was formerly known as the Penang International Squash Centre, and originally the Bukit Dumbar Squash Centre. This was where Penang-born squash legend Datuk Nicol David was discovered, and went on from there to become the world number one squash player. On 5 August 2010 the centre was renamed in her honour in a ceremony officiated by the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
It was at the Bukit Dumbar Squash Centre one evening in 1991 that Ms Ee Phoeh Hoon, a committee member of the Squash Racket Association of Penang, discovered a talented 8-year-old girl named Nicol David, a discovery that launched the little girl to become the number one woman squash player in the world.
