No Plastic Bag is a steel-rod sculpture installed on a wall on
Prangin Lane, George Town. Based on the caricature by
Tang Mun Kian, it shows a housewife with more than her handful of purchase trudging over to the basket seller. The sculpture commemorates the No Free Plastic Bags ruling that came into force on 1 January, 2011. At the same time, it celebrates the wicker shop at the junction of Prangin Lane and
Beach Street.
No Plastic Bag Sculpture, Prangin Lane, George Town, Penang (30 June 2012)

The wicker shop of Prangin Lane is an example of the auxiliary trades that flourished to support the wholesale market of nearby
Sia Boey. Since the market moved away, these shops have seen their businesses waning. They represent one of the many endangered trades of the inner city of George Town.
