photo licensing Ayr is a town on the Burdekin River delta in Queensland, Australia. It is about 88 km to the south of Townsville. Located in a major sugar-cane producing region, Burdekin Shire, Ayr has a population of around 8,000 people (2012 estimate).

The nearest airport is at Townsville. From there, rent a car and drive down the A1 highway to Ayr.
