Pantai Malindo (GPS: 5.33779, 100.19443), or Malindo Beach, is a beach in
Balik Pulau. It is not known how this beach got its name, but the name has been accepted by the goverment. Perhaps it was so named because it's the spot where one can view from Malaysia towards Indonesia - thus my hypothesis. Pantai Malindo is the stretch of the west coast to the south of
Kuala Sungai Burong. The view here is very nice, as you can see
Pulau Betong in the horizon.
Pantai Malindo attracts bikers and photography enthusiasts who come here to enjoy the scenery. There are biking trails to go all the way to the breakers at the mouth of
Sungai Burong.
I visited Pantai Malindo with my wife on 24 May, 2015. We arrived that around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It was a fine day. At that time, it was low tide, but the tide was coming in. We could actually feel the sea water rushing inland. It came in successive waves which crash on the rocks in a loud noise. It did cross our minds, what the tsunami something like this? What we saw was just a natural tide, but I suppose the tsunami would not be too different, except on a much larger scale.
