Penang Amazing World Studios (GPS: 5.41632, 100.3437) was an interactive photo studio in George Town, Penang that I am told has ceased operations since September 2017. It is located at 4 Weld Quay, within the former Schiffmann Herr Building, between the Made In Penang Interactive Museum and Via Pre Italian Restaurant.

Entering Penang Amazing World Studios

The entrance to Penang Amazing World Studios is guarded by a pair of mui33sin2, or door gods, in this case, of a virtual-reality kind. They seem to be able to speak to each other, one in English and one in Mandarin. I would like to see them speak Penang Hokkien one day!

Little Common Street

Little Common Street is a caricature wonderland set to a backdrop of period street scenes of Penang. It's a place to rub shoulders with famous people, and the only possibility of getting up-close with those no longer with us. From Gandhi to P. Ramlee, Steve Jobs to Princess Diana, along with present-day figures, from Obama to Nick Vujicic, they are all here to greet you. See how many you can recognize.

Virtual Reality

Put on the headset and the goggles, and be transported into an Indiana Jones-like otherworld Penang, complete with Komtar tower. I can't show you how it looks like - you've just got to try it yourself, and feel as though you are on a roller coaster in a Mad Max-inspired George Town.
