Penang Hop-On Hop-Off is a double-decker tourist bus service. The service began on 16 November, 2014. The buses are equipped with Wi-Fi, enabling passengers to receive free connectivity on board. The front portion of the upper level is an open deck, so passengers seated there enjoy uninterrupted views of the route.
Note March 2020: The Penang Hop-On Hop-Off service is temporarily closed in light of Covid-19.
The Penang Hop-On Hop-Off service is from 9:00 am in the morning until 8:00 pm in the evening. There are ten buses in operation, running at 20- to 30-minute intervals.
Penang Hop-On Hop-Off Tickets
The tickets for using the Penang Hop-On Hop-Off service is called the "city tour vouchers". These are not single-ride tickets but are time based. There are two types of vouchers: the 24-hour and 48-hour voucher. With these vouchers, passenger enjoy unlimited number of rides on the buses - hence they get to hop on and hop off at various points on the routes. Payment is made on board through the driver and on-board assistant, who will hand out a tour-guide leaflet to passengers.

As of 1 January 2016, the 24-hour voucher is priced at RM45 per adult and RM24 per child aged 5-11 years. Adults holding a MyKad pay RM19 while children with MyKid pay RM12. The 48-hour voucher is priced at RM79 per adult and RM43 per child aged 5-11 years. Adults holding a MyKad pay RM32 while children with MyKid pay RM24.
Tickets are available on the bus as well as at the Hop On Hop Off mobile counters at Gurney Drive (Stop 1), Chowrasta (Stop 9), online at www.myhoponhopoff.com as well as at authorised ticket agents.
Penang Hop-On Hop-Off Routes
There are presently two routes in operation: the City Route and Beach Route. Both routes form a continuous loop, so passengers can start and end their journey anywhere they like. In addition, they can transfer to the other route at two interchanges: Gurney Drive and Chowrasta Market. Bus stops where the Penang Hop-On Hop-Off buses stop are signaged with the operator logo.
The Penang Hop-On Hop-Off buses make stops at various tourist attractions. These are the standard stops. In addition, it also stops at selected bus stops to pick up or drop off passengers, on demand.
