penangpac, Straits Quay

Stage 1, penangpac (29 November 2013)


penangpac, which is short for Performing Arts Centre of Penang, is a live-performance theatre at Straits Quay, Penang. It was formed through the partnership between live-performance company The Actors Studio Sdn Bhd with the owner of Straits Quay, Eastern & Oriental Berhad.

penangpac is the second performing arts centre in Malaysia, after the klpac, and the first in the northern region of Malaysia. The arts centre has a number of live performances every month. The opening of penangpac at the end of 2011 added colour to the theatre scene in Penang. It staged its first live performance in January 2012. Entitled "Malaysian Girls", the performance opened on 10 January and was very well received.

Getting there

penangpac is located on the 4th floor of Straits Quay. To get there, take the escalator on the left side of the outside atrium. penangpac comprises a main stage which is a 303-seater proscenium theatre, and a black-box theatre seating 160. There are also three studios, two gallery spaces and other amenities.
