Presgrave Street 888 Hokkien Mee (5 March 2017)
Presgrave Street 888 Hokkien Mee (GPS: 5.41116, 100.33056) is a famous Hokkien Mee stall along
Presgrave Street,
George Town. It has been selling for many, many years, for as long as the Presgrave Street area transform into a street food destination. Since then, a while hawker centre has sprouted to occupy the townhouses from the
McNair Street junction.
I haven't been to the Presgrave Street 888 Hokkien Mee for many years, but when I asked on Facebook where I should go for hawker food dinner tonight, someone suggested going there, and that suddenly like a very good idea.
When we arrived, we were lucky to secure a place to sit, as the coffee shops are all very crowded. You have to line up to order the Hokkien Mee, and take it back to your seat. Each bowl costs RM4.50. In addition, we ordered the prawn fritters and
char koay teow.
To tell you the truth, I didn't have high hopes for this Hokkien Mee, as I have been a little less than impressed with the
888 Hokkien Mee in Bayan Baru. I was surprised therefore, when I found the 888 Hokkien Mee at Presgrave Street to be very good. So good that, even when I am eating the char koay teow, I continued to dip it into the Hokkien Mee soup, as I liked it so much.
Nothing much to say about the prawn fritters (RM3.00). The char koay teow (RM6.50) was "not too bad".
