Public Cafe, Gurney Drive, Penang (1 January 2017)
Public Cafe (GPS: 5.43244, 100.31706) is one of the Chinese coffee shops along Gurney Drive, Penang. We ended up at Public Cafe on 20 July 2013 because I have just visited Song River Cafe, where I wanted to try out the Song River Cafe roti babi, but my wife wanted a soupy dish. We finally found the seafood porridge at Public Cafe. In addition to seafood porridge, Public Cafe also has Hokkien Mee, Lor Mee, Lor Bak and cooked-to-order Chinese dishes at Loke Sok Seafood stall. (We had the seafood porridge of Public Cafe at home; it turned out to be quite nice, and at RM5 with two reasonably large prawns, not too expensive.)
Although we couldn't find a single parking space along Gurney Drive outside the coffee shop (we had to park at Kelawei Road), there was quite a number of empty tables at Public Cafe when we were there. Business appeared to have slowed down on this stretch of Gurney Drive.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
