Queensbay Coast (20 May 2012)
Queensbay Coast is the eastern coastline of Penang Island anchor on
Queensbay Mall. It is between the coastline of the
Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone and
Bayan Mutiara.
Queensbay Coast is often regarded as the "New
Gurney Drive". It attracts people, particularly the working class, who hang out here. There are benches along the promenade for you to enjoy the breeze. The area is one of the few where you can see both the
Penang Bridge and the
Second Penang Bridge.

One of the issues facing Queensbay Coast is littering. This is unfortunately due not so much to the lack of rubbish bin - which there are plentiful in the area - but rather to the uncivic-mindedness of the people. The authorities often take a shotgun approach by attempting to outlaw hawkers to the area. This is often blatantly ignored. I am not against hawkers stationing themselves at Queensbay Coast, however anybody caught littering should be slapped with a fine and cars blocking the way should be towed away immediately. The parking area should also be improved, so that people can come here and enjoy themselves.
