Tim & Chooi Yoke's RecipesTim & Chooi Yoke's Recipes (31 March 2017)

My wife and I love food, but truth be told, I am not the cook, she is. My wife has learned to cook from small. The third child of six siblings, she was the one who does the cooking in the absence of her mother, and even from quite a young age, was able to whip up a meal for the whole family.

Although I don't cook, I have always had an appreciate for good food. It is a great blessing for me to be married to someone who loves to cook, and as I love to eat, I would give my wife the encouragement to learn how to many traditional as well as modern dishes.

On this page, you find a collection of recipes for the various food items that we prepare in our home. Putting together this collection was a challenge for my wife and for me. You see, my wife is so accustomed to cooking through intuition and a good measure of gut feeling. She seldom measures the quantity of ingredients that go into her various dishes.

It was a real challenge to put together this collection of recipes, which we hope to add to it gradually. As I am the more seasoned writer between the two of us, it falls on me to interpret the steps and procedures into recipes. Nevertheless, none of these recipes would be possible without the input from my wife.

My wife reminds all who wish to try her recipes, that while we may provide precise measurements, but the most important asset is still a foundation in cooking. There are countless variables that are outside our control, like the size and make of your kitchen utensils, the intensity of your flame, and most importantly, your own ability to understand what is going on during the cooking process.

We are not professionals. We are not food sellers or cooking teachers, and we have no desire to write cookbooks. But we are food lovers. We enjoy good food inside and outside our home, Through this collection of recipes, we want to share our joy of homecooked food with you.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
