Penang has a wide range of hotels. The majority of the mainsteam ones have some facilities to cater to the needs of business travellers. A few of the bigger ones also have business centres where business people can use to conduct business activities away from the office.
A decade ago, only the business centres will have Internet connection, but nowadays the majority of hotels have wifi connectivity throughout the premises. Over that, the business centres may also have fax and photocopier machines, and some may also offer secretarial services. Among the hotels with a full-fledged business centre in Penang include Hotel Equatorial, Evergreen Laurel, Eastin Hotel and Gurney Resort Hotel.
Vistana Hotel Executive Lounge (14 August 2014)
High on the list of business travellers would be a place for them to meet up with clients. Some, such as Vistana Penang, even have a separate executive lounge where business travellers can have a relaxed place to sit down and chat with their clients. Hotels such as G Hotel, Jen Penang, Rasa Sayang Resort, Equatorial and Copthorne have large, spacious common lounge areas for inhouse guest to meet up with their local business associates.
If being in the heart of the city is vital, I would recommend Jen Penang, as it is directly within Komtar, and within short walking distance of 1 Avenue Mall and Prangin Mall. Across the road is the St Giles Wembley. In the Gurney area, G Hotel provides a choice location, with Gurney Plaza next door, while Eastin Hotel is a short walking distance from Queensbay Mall.
g Hotel, Gurney Drive, Penang (26 October 2011)
I would understand that not everyone coming to Penang on business will have a fat budget. Business travellers looking for more moderately priced accommodation within the city can consider GLOW Penang and Red Rock Hotel, across from each other on Macalister Road, and within short walking distance to Penang's famous street food destination, New Lane. Even closer to New Lane is Sunway Hotel, which is also a short walking distance to Penang Times Square.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
