Penang private apartment rental (5 February 2013)

In Penang, it is now possible to rent apartment units for short-term stays. If you are traveling to Penang as a group, it makes sense to rent a whole apartment for a short-term stay of a few days, as you will certainly enjoy more room than living in a hotel. Most of the apartments that are open to receive short-term tenants are located within condominium blocks, so you get to enjoy all the facilities such as the swimming pool, gym, and others.
Unlike a true bed-and-breakfast, these short-term private apartments do not offer any morning breakfast, so as soon as you are out of bed, you are on your own. On the other hand, perhaps so much the better, as you are free to go out and explore what local treats that are available in Penang.
To be honest, I did not realise this until a friend of my wife approached me, because she wanted to promote her apartment unit on Penang Travel Tips. The downside about staying at a private apartment is that you are often on your own. There is no concierge or taxi-stand nearby, so short-term apartment renting is usually more appealing to Malaysians who have their own transport. Nevertheless, if you will be staying in Penang for a few days, this is certainly an option over mainstream hotels that you may want to consider.
