Arakawa Japanese Gastro & Bar is a restaurant at Gurney Paragon Mall. It is located on the ground floor, next to Starbucks. The restaurant offers Japanese food.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here on 30 September 2020. We were invited by the restaurant manager. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised that the chef is also someone I know. He used to work at the Japanese restaurant at a hotel which I frequently visited.

This evening, Arakawa invited us to enjoy their shabu shabu. This is a hot pot with various vegetables in a dashi, or stock made from bonito flakes. Into this boiling pot, we dip various meats such as pork, chicken and beef. The beef and pork fillets were sliced till paper thin, so that they cook almost immediately.

Right now, Arakawa is having a "All You Can Eat Shabu-Shabu" promotion at just RM88++ for two persons. You can order an unlimited serving of the meats and vegetables. For big eaters, this is an absolute steal (though for my wife and me, we only managed one second serving!) The food was so good.

In addition to the Shabu Shabu, Arakawas also served us with sake and Japanese-style kebab. It was a delightful evening which my wife and I enjoyed so much.
